terra's blog is on caffeine-roids
Terra's blog is pretty great. her current 'post,' which is more of modern day re-enactment of Heb 11 is just great. http://terraleavens.blogspot.com/
check it out
also, I'm in the process of weaning myself off coffee. I've noticed it tampers with my emotional state, and can make my stomach feel weird sometimes. We can become dependent on it, it begins to master our ability to work hard, think well, sleep, etc. so yeah, I'm gonna take a stab at no coffee, even though i got way too much to do this week.
to make-up for a lack of energy i'm gonna try and exercise briefly daily (like push-ups or yogging) and eat more fruit.
anyhow, i would like someone to join me on this. anyone good to try and de-caffienate themselves?

barbie
haha sorry man,
i'm not addicted to coffee...but even if i was...
this is the season of starbucks' Christmas blend!!!
you're crazy to give up the Christmas blend. its the BEST blend ever.
Does the "we" in your second paragraph refer to your little friend that nobody but you can see and hear?
JR:'we' as in the community of ppl that read yes.
Barb: you rock the world
Lydia: 2nd cup coffee is better anyways
Jill: last Christmas season i sat down in a starbucks, and a women sat down in front of me. she was reading Plato's symposium, so i started talking to her bout it. turns out she studied theology at UofT, liberal theology. So we kept on talking, I think I put her on her toes, cause she pretty mcuh left after 20 minutes... didn't even finish her pumkin spice. i almost drank it.
i'm sorry...
but WHAT?
"second cup coffee is better than starbucks anyways"?
i'm sorry dear friend. obviously you're not a coffee drinker.
i mean, you may claim to be fasting from coffee, but you're obviously not a true coffee drinker.
but if you're satisfied with "chocolate truffle crap" when starbucks can offer you christmas blend heaven, so be it.
its kinda like the little child who is satisfied with mud pies. you go ahead and eat your mud pies.
i'll enjoy my ice cream.
I had my first espresso for a while in an early lecture last week. My hands shook for the rest of the class.
Nifty stuff, coffee!
Lol... as soon as I saw 2nd cup is better... lol.
okay, so i decided to give second cup a try today...
i felt SO guilty for being a traitor...
AND
IT SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!
my guilt wasn't even worthwhile!
it was like drinking water!!!
bleh.
i CANNOT believe how bad it was.
i'd rather drink nabob or something.
dear starbucks,
i am so sorry for forsaking you. from now, i will be loyal to you.
wow. thanks for the major blog props.
how'd the talk go tonight?
how was this wednesday's colloquium?
oh boo, don't use a CS Lewis quote on me! starbucks is good, no doubt. but second cup has got good dark roasts, and caters to the more refined drinkers who aren't just looking for a caffiene injection every two blocks.
Chris, i'm not even an expresso man.
I don't think this discussion is conducive to you cutting the coffee habit :P
Hey Jill, here are some things we've done at York.
-food after every weekly meeting
-friday night socials, like bowling
-get your DGL's to do fun stuff with their own people. It's pretty informal, like if they were planning on going to the movies, invite some others out.
-start a consistent social thing, like friday afternoon sports (hockey at York).
Do you guys actually play hockey on Fridays now, or is there still a football/soccer input?
Jill: We also have socials after every weekly meeting. Usually we play a game (like sardines at the university...of course, campus security wasn't too happy with us for that one) and then hang out at somebody's house. Socials are SO important for community!
I'm excited that you have 65 ppl coming...that rocks!
Amac: I switched from coffee to tea this semester. It still gives me the caffeine but doesn't make my stomach do funny things :) Good luck on the quitting!
it's pure hockey now, but we don't always get that many ppl.
buddy, I love how your blog always turns into an absurd forum...
